May 2014 – Port Hacking

This year’s company retreat, complete with morning yoga and vigorous morning swims in the bay. There was rock art at Bundeena, a historical boat shed with a very long roof, geological specimens, animal trapping and wine. So much wine.

April to May 2014 – Quirindi

Quirindi, small town on the north west slopes of New South Wales. Population 2,500. My home for a month. Rise before daybreak, watch the sun spill over the horizon and over rolling hills while waiting for work to start, walk in lines up and down paddocks, record artefacts, dinner at the Terminus Hotel with the excellent steak and the Beach n Bush sauce (drool), go to our shared accommodation and work until 10.30pm with colleagues, go to bed, compose draft letters, try and comprehendĀ a changing life… quietly.

It was a dark and stormy afternoon along the Murrumbidgee River.
