Storm clouds on the road from Ivanhoe to Hay

Got to experience the aftermath of torrential rain on the Cobb Highway from Hay to Ivanhoe back in July.  Bonus points to me for choosing the paved road over the dirt Balranald Road. Was very thankful for the peaked road centre which provided a path above the flooded drains. It can’t have been all that bad because by the afternoon it was like the road had never flooded.

Sounds scary and fascinating at the same time. Those photos are beautiful.

Someone in a survey team made the journey via Balranald Road. It took them an extra hour and a half and their white 4WD was caked in mud. And then the council closed that road. My journey was quite sedate really. The great thing was that all the wildlife was out because there had been so much rain. There were hawks, falcons, eagles every 500m.
